Welcome to AptitudeCMS!

We are proud to announce AptitudeCMS Alpha 3 is ready for general consumption. As with all alpha quality software it is not recommended you run this on any production servers. So if there isn't much here what *can* you do?

Help Wanted!

As a fledgling community AptitudeCMS needs all sorts of help before we can get our first stable version out the door. We're looking for talent, be it the young or the experienced, to join in helping AptitudeCMS realize it's potential. While we need help in a lot of area a few needs we can call out right now. Please note we know our list below is pretty exhaustive and we don't expect people to have all the skills called out. If you are interested in learning any of this stuff we won't turn away the opportunity to help get you up to speed. Just join the AptitudeCMS Developers mailing list and ask how we can get you started!

  • Students in Middle School or High School - Kids are the future, right? Why shouldn't that apply to open source projects?  Middle School or High School students are encouraged to get an early start in computer science and the AptitudeCMS project has plenty of great tasks for kids interested in exploring the world of computers.  Our only requirement is that you be at least 13 years old. Students feel free to learn more!
  • Women and Minorities - Taking women as an example, they make up 20% of the Computer Science community yet only make up 2% of FOSS contributors.  Those numbers are staggering, pathetic and we are a project that would love to improve on that.  Don't get us wrong...help can come in any form with any background, however, we are conscious of this and want to facilitate change.  With that said, we also need...
  • Front End Engineers - This would be people who know their way around HTML, CSS but are most well known for the JavaScript skills and their ability to make the user experience as snappy (and happy) as possible. Experience with things like jQuery, YUI, YSlow, Firebug, etc come to mind
  • Web Design Guru - This is more the artistic side of the client side where HTML and CSS reign supreme. Best fits include candidates that know their way around tool like Photoshop or Gimp and know a thing or two about web standards (e.g. xHTML, HTML, Section 508, COPPA, etc)
  • Testers - Ideal candidates would know how to code a bit of PHP, would know PHPUnit inside and out and would have familiarity with tools like Selenium IDE, and continuous integration tools like phpundercontrol
  • PHP Ninjas - Yep, to the round out this list we are looking for top-notch PHP talent. This is mostly backend coding and involves adding, updating and fixing core features of AptitudeCMS and it's core plugins.
